On the edge of the pretty village of Ghemme in the foothills of the alps, the winery of Torraccia del Piantavigna is on the same site as the Francoli Grappa Distillery and ecological energy recycling plant. We share a large retail outlet, bar and tasting area. There are large rooms in the cellar where tastings for larger groups and simple meals can be served. We are also surrounded by excellent restaurants for every pocket. Tours can be carried out in English, French, German or Italian and these would include a visit to the cellars including tasting some of the wines directly from the cask.
We are most famous for our elegant reds which require long aging. The winery has won the top Italian awards for many years in succession and this year one of our wines was selected as one of Italy's top 50 wines. As well as Nebbiolo which is our main grape variety, we use two local varieties, Vespolina red and Erbaluce for whites.
